What Does the following TSH Test Result Mean?

My thyroid test TSH was 5.97 the T4 1.17, I was put on Levothyroxin 75 mcg.
I broke out in random sweats, felt "not with it" , had anxiety, my feet ached, my period changed. My follow up test result was TSH 1.73 and T4 1.29. My doctor disregarded my complaints, so on my own, I cut my dosage in half, and after experiencing hives and itchy arms, I have stopped taking the medication. I feel better, but it has only been a month.
Can I live with a slightly sluggish thyroid? I never had symptoms of Hypothyroidism to begin with. I am 49 and just though that my body was beginning the signs of menopause.

Thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion you are not having any thyroid disease.
As the results of TSH and T4 you mentioned (before starting levothyroxine) are normal.
TSH was slightly raised. It is known as subclinical hypothyroidism. But in asymptomatic patient this does not need any treatment.
So levothyroxine was not necessary for your case.
And after starting levothyroxine, you had symptoms of tremors and sweating, which indicates hyperthyroidism due to extra levothyroxine which was not needed.
And you improved after stopping it. This suggest that you are not hypothroid.
And yes, you are right about menopause. May be your symptoms are related to menopause only.
So no need to worry much about thyroid diseases.
